Model 30
A gas cylinder shutoff valve is a device that shuts off the flow of gas when the pressure in a cylinder exceeds a preset level. These valves are installed between the cylinder's outlet and pressure regulator. They detect flow through a pressure drop across an internal orifice and close with a snap action to form a leak-tight seal. When purchasing a gas cylinder, check the date of manufacture. It is usually stamped or permanently marked with this information. The date of manufacture should be on the cylinder, as well as the number of pressures that it is designed to hold. The cylinder is tested by applying pressure until the distance between the two compression blocks remains six times the thickness of the cylinder wall. If the pressure drops below the yield point, it may be a good sign that the cylinder is not up to snuff.
